Our inner and outer biological rhythms – as well as the rhythms of every animate and inert part of life – are ruled by this celestial force. Traditionally\, it has been associated with warmth\, light\, happiness\, joy\, hope\, enlightenment\, illumination\, truth\, cheer\, goodwill.”  Denise Linn\, Sacred Destiny Oracle.\nThe sun carries the deepest energies of expansion and abundance. So it is fitting to take this opportunity and celebrate this solstice to celebrate our abundance within … that we are enough.\n \nNaike Forde\, a certified yoga instructor\, a registered psychotherapist and a wonderful friend will share her story of going home to the Motherland\, to Ghana\, to connect with Elders and be among her original people. SUMMARY:Spring Equinox Peace Circle
DESCRIPTION:We have entered into March and the awakening of Spring. At a recent full moon ceremony\, I heard an Anishinaabe teaching on Spring that has deeply affected me and has changed the way I relate with Mother Earth at this time.  It has also gentled the way I approach my own intentions and actions – given what Mother Earth is doing to make Spring happen. \nI’ve asked Anishinaabe Kwe Mary Anne Caibaiosai\, a beautiful friend of mine\, to come and share this teaching at Peace Circle. Song\, dance\, play and gardens of goodness and beauty feast our eyes and bodies. In the spring we planted our seeds\, our imaginal seeds of our dreams for ourselves\, our community\, our Earth. We have been nourishing and nurturing our soil\, so our seeds can do what they are meant to do. Nothing lofty. Nothing untrue. Joyfully and simply\, we have been nurturing what we have planted. DESCRIPTION:Join me in this online Peace Circle and ceremony. Through ritual\, ceremony\, reflection and connection with the freshness of spring and light\, we will nurture our spirits and the seeds of our soul’s dream. \nSpring Equinox is a time of celebration where day and night\, light and dark are in near equal balance. The Light is getting stronger and warmer as we in the North tilt towards the Sun. As the sun crosses the ‘celestial equator’\, the increasing light triggers birds to sing and the sprouting of new life. With fertile soil\, and seeds that have been nurtured over the winter\, we have the ingredients for richness and abundance. This is an ancient and proven process – plant seeds in rich soil\, tend with care\, allow Nature to follow its own blueprint – and thus we plant the way for food\, medicine and shelter. These are the first blessings of Life. \nIn this Spring Peace Circle\, we will gather in circle and ceremony to support our inner/outer soil and our inner/outer environment to sprout and give fresh life to our planted seeds (dreams and goals). Amidst the anxiety\, the clamor of voices that polarize or fray our nerves\, let’s allow ourselves to just be ‘still’ and listen in the quiet\, in the dark\, in the surrender of what is seeking to be birthed in the Great Mystery. \nWinter Solstice has long been recognized as the first day of winter – the shortest and darkest day of the year. It occurs when the Northern Hemisphere is furthest from the sun. According to its Latin roots\, the word solstice means “sun standing still\,” and winter solstice has been recognized across many cultures as a time to celebrate the gradual return of the light. Winter Solstice can be a ceremony to signal a clear end of one stage of life and a conscious beginning of another. It is mirrored in nature\, as the seeds are buried in the darkness of the Earth\, to emerge once again with the life-giving rays of the Sun. \nThis Peace Circle is an invitation to join and answer our heart’s call to act with courage\, to step into the dark of the season and free ourselves from what hides our truth. And it has been shown to be effective in neutralizing shame. Spiritual traditions teach that compassion arises out of loving-kindness; and practising compassion for self and others makes us real human beings. \nWhether as an athlete\, a professional\, working in a trade\, or as a parent\, self compassion makes us resilient amidst our failures and disappointments. We lose family members\, we lose jobs\, we lose friends\, we lose aspects of our health or our identity. We lose our stride\, our focus. It is in these moments of failure\, disappointment and shame that we often struggle to access our self compassion. We haven’t established a strong enough practice of self compassion to draw on it when we need it most. \nResearch has shown that self compassion is a highly enlightened and just way of recovering from failure\, disappointment and learning from the losses. Self compassion is a powerful way to access our inner resources – to recoup our self confidence\, reclaim our joy and step forward in what brings us true meaning and love in our lives. \nIn this on-line course\, we will embrace the practice of Peace Circle (on Zoom platform). Traditionally\, Circles are gatherings in which all participants sit in a circle facing each other to facilitate open\, direct communication. The day was also established as an annual day of non-violence and cease-fire. \nIn unity with the United Nations 2017 theme and events of celebration\, education and story-telling\, Karen and Shirley Lynn invite you to join this global movement of ‘together for peace’. We will be exploring the question Who will you make peace with on this day? \nWe are learning that Mother Earth is us and that we are Mother Earth. We also are learning that our neighbour is us just as we are the neighbour. And now we need to learn that we are the refugee and the migrant just as the migrant and the refugee is us. \n\nIf we have no peace\, it is because we have forgotten we belong to each other. – Mother Theresa \n\nThrough the practice of sitting in circle and listening to each other’s stories of peace done well\, as well as sorrow for when we have fallen short of this ideal\, we will be strengthening the ideals of peace in our world.
